Yom Ha'atzmaut, or Israeli Independence Day, commemorates Israel's declaration of independence on the Hebrew date of Iyar 5th, 5708 (May 14, 1948). Large commemorative celebrations are common throughout Israel, and smaller celebrations, especially among Israelis are common in the diaspora.
The holiday is only celebrated on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, and is adjusted accordingly if it falls on another day of the week |
