Lebanon, an award-winning Israeli film, is coming to Toronto on August 20th.

Film Synopsis:
June, 1982 - The First Lebanon War. A lone tank and a paratroopers platoon are dispatched to search a hostile town - a simple mission that turns into a nightmare. The four members of a tank crew find themselves in a violent situation that they cannot contain. Motivated by fear and the basic instinct of survival, they desperately try not to lose themselves in the chaos of war.

Every year, the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto intiates their fundraising campaign with a great event for the city's Jewish residents. This year's celebration is at The Carlu, and features special guest Dan Aykroyd!
Campaign launch is always a spirit-filled event that unites the community towards the common goals of supporting the Jewish community in Toronto, across Canada, in Israel and in other parts of the world.

Impact Toronto Social Night |
Impact Toronto, the UJA's Young Adults division is holding their final of 4 summer social nights for Young Adults, 25-40. Join the Impact crew and a host of other young Jews at Lobby Nightclub, next Tuesday, August 10th. The event is an open-bar event, with $20 cover, and will last from 6:30-9:00PM.

The Pitch for Israel is a Toronto-based charity event that features both men's and women's softball tournaments. Established in 2008, the Pitch for Israel is a prominent charity event within Toronto's Jewish community and one of the largest in Canada. The Pitch raises funds to support vulnerable Jewish families in Israel and Toronto by sending their children to summer camps to build essential personal skills, create amazing memories while developing life-long friendships. This year, all proceeds are going to support Israeli children whose lives have been shattered by terrorism. Since its inception, the Pitch for Israel has raised over $260,000 to support Jewish families.

Over the past 107 years, JNF has evolved into a global environmental leader by planting an incredible 240 million trees, building over 200 reservoirs and dams, developing over 250,000 acres of land, creating more than 1,000 parks, providing the infrastructure for over 1,000 communities, bringing life to the Negev Desert and educating students around the world about Israel and the environment.

Community Profile: Prosserman JCC |
The Prosserman JCC is Toronto's newest JCC, opening it's doors in July 2009, and serves the residents in the nothern part of Toronto, located on the Sherman Campus of the UJA, on Bathurst Street, north of Sheppard Avenue. The Prosserman JCC has a fitness centre, a culinary arts studio (kosher, of course) and a New Media studio, and has a huge variety of events happening throughout the year, for toddlers (daycare and preschool), children (Centre Camp and JCC Chai Sports), teens, young adults and adults (Jewish learning programs, exercise classes) and special programming for 55+ adults (lunch n' learn sessions, spcials courses and low-impact exercise classes).
